So I know I've seen a few posts on this subreddit about vampire behavior (breathing, siring, etc.), but I was wondering, do vampires sleep? I recently started watching Angel, and I'm on season 2 now. I have been under the impression that vampires don't sleep, or at least don't need to sleep. However, in S01Ep11 (Somnabulist), Angel has several dreams, and again in S02Ep03 (First Impressions) he dreams (and sleeps) a lot. Is this just an Angel thing? Cuz I don't recall seeing Spike or any other vampire sleep. Thanks!

The cocaine-exposed infants showed significantly greater sleep state effects on heart rate relative to the control infants. Heart rate variability was increased in cocaine-exposed infants relative to controls in both sleep states. Respiratory rate and variability were not significantly different in the cocaine-exposed and control infants. These results suggest differences in cardiovascular control in infants of cocaine-abusing mothers compared to infants without cocaine exposure.
