Through intimate stories from people behind Chen Soon Lee Book Stamp & Coin Centre and All Things Hainanese, the film sheds light on the challenges of preserving tradition and the shifting family dynamics. Targetted at Gen Zs, the project highlights the deep connections between legacy, innovation, and family heritage, inspiring a new generation to better appreciate these enduring enterprises.
Creating this documentary required a diverse set of production skills, including research, pre-production planning, and coordination with the interviewees. As the director, camera and editor, I coordinated all aspects of the shoot together with my team to from storylines that resonate with audiences. My proficiency in editing ensured a polished final product, blending interviews with visual storytelling to engage viewers. This project showcases my ability to manage complex video productions and deliver a compelling, culturally relevant content.
"Streets of Singapore" is an 8-minute documentary set in the storied enclaves of Serangoon Road and Arab Street, where small businesses stand as cultural anchors for Singapore’s diaspora. Through on-location interviews, longtime store owners share first-hand accounts of how these vibrant districts have evolved alongside the communities they serve. As a key part of Singapore’s history, the film explores the resilience, traditions, and intertwined identities that continue to shape these iconic streets.
I created an instructional video for 1st Avenue which is guides them through the process of purchasing from 1st Avenue. This individual project covered all stages of production—storyboarding during pre-production, filming, and editing. I used techniques like text masking to highlight key instructions. The video was designed to simplify the onboarding process for new users, showcasing my ability to handle both technical and creative aspects of video production independently.
