Element M and N: Presentation of the Project Portfolio

Introduction

Throughout our project there are some things that if we did this project again we would change. We compiled a reflection of our overall product documentation, improvements and, changes in how we presented our topic. This reflection allows us to look back at our work and see what we could've done better to have a better shot at being a finalist.

Product Improvements

One major thing we could've improved is having a pair of shoes instead of a singular shoe. When people walk they use both of their feet so it makes sense to test using two shoes to get an accurate view of someone's gate under the harness test. Another thing we needed to have done with the harness test was to have a rail system that allowed the harness to move so the test subject can walk.

Another important change to be made is the floor material, the original floor was the same pour able silicone rubber that was difficult to clean and tore easily.

Website Documentation

All research, design ideas, mock ups, prototypes and test results, and improvement and improvement results are present on the website. This documentation helped to guide our progression through the engineering and design process, while showing the full evolution of our design. During this process we've changed, added, and removed many different ideas/designs that we previously would've considered effective. The website is a great example that in engineering there are always ways to improve upon existed designs and more things to test.

Engineering Notebook

Each individual team member also documented the process in their engineering notebook. In the note book we documented the work we did in class every day. This work includes write ups from the website, design ideas and sketches.

YouTube

We have a YouTube channel that has videos of our testing and some brief explanations of processes.

Changes to Presentation

As we have gone throughout the year we have improved and change the way that we present our information. We developed a central problem statement and built our presentations and ideas off of that. We did testing and presented out testing in different ways depending on what kind of data we received. We changed the way we presented and talked about the parts of the presentation that we as individuals specialized in.

Conclusion

If we had known what we know now and made these changes to our project we believe that would we have had an even better product. Knowing on how we could've improved our project now will change how we approach future projects. Hopefully being able to use this experience to create better products.
