City Council Members Gary Boyer, David Frendendall, Mendell Thompson:
Dear Glendora City Council Members,
My name is [ YOUR NAME ] and I [ YOUR RELATION TO GLENDORA ]. I am writing to you in regards to the changes myself and others would like to see within our community. As we watch the country fight against the injustices imposed upon citizens by a faulty bureaucratic system, I can only help but feel that our community and its leaders can improve. I believe that changes can be made by opening a dialogue around what resources our community lacks and using the information to create results in permanent systemic change for equity. I demand that motions in agenda item 1 be postponed until participatory budget actions are taken in order to hear from your constituents.
I seek to create a more diverse set of public programs and services in the Glendora community.
To do this, we must reallocate funds away from police pensions, Glendora Police Department vehicle costs, and patrol costs. During these unprecedented times, we need a budget that adequately and effectively supports the betterment of Glendora’s community and its residents’ well-being.
We are also in the midst of a pandemic with severe economic consequences. Though our city budget is limited, it is noticeably impactful on our community. Now, more than ever, we need to realign how money is allocated to ensure it reflects the needs of our city and its citizens.
Glendora is my home. I am proud to be a part of this community and I want to see it thrive.
City Council Members, I am asking you to please redirect funding towards [ COMMUNITY SERVICES YOU WANT ].
Thank you for your time,
[ YOUR NAME ]
***Think of this as General Public Comment that lasts as long as you want.***
My name is [Your Name] and I live in Glendora. I want to share my thoughts on the budget with [Councilmember/Mayor].
The adopted 2020-2021 budget is not reflective of the needs and values of Glendora's citizens. Glendora needs to cut the $17.5 million police budget. The money from the GPD can be reallocated to go towards community resources.

To ensure that the public will be able to participate, the city is providing three methods in which the public can submit their comments: Live Zoom comment, email, or mail.

Utilize the chat function. Send a message to the City Clerk and let her know you wish to make a Public Comment, wait to be called on, unmute your audio, and give a statement less than 3 minutes long.
My name is [ YOUR NAME ] and I [ YOUR RELATION TO GLENDORA ]. I am here in reference to the Glendora City’s Council budget proposal. Glendora is asking that you redirect funding from the Glendora Police Department to [ INSERT THE DESIRED AREA(S) ]. I demand that motions in agenda item 1 be postponed until participatory budget actions are taken in order to hear from your constituents. It is an outrage that 49% of the proposed general fund budget will be going towards the Glendora Police Department. The community has overwhelmingly expressed their opposition to the proposed budget and, in particular, to its over-spending on police funding. I want to make clear that the community is asking to reallocate funds away from the Glendora Police Department to [ INSERT the DESIRED AREA(S) ]. The city council has an obligation to those they represent to consider an alternative that prioritizes the true needs of Glendorans: More Care, not more Cops. Public opinion is with me.
I want to emphasize that your failure to listen to your constituents does not mean that we will give up. We will continue to make our voices known, both online and through in-person protests.
Thank you for your time.
