Glen R. Brown is a Professor of Art History at Kansas State University, where he teaches courses on modern and contemporary art, art theory and criticism, the history of ceramics, and the art of Japan, ancient Mesoamerica, and Africa.
He holds a PhD in Art History from Stanford University, an MA in Art History, Stanford University, an MA in Art Criticism, The State University of New York, Stony Brook, and a BA in Art, The Colorado College.
Elected to membership in the International Academy of Ceramics, Geneva, Switzerland (2005), he has written extensively about contemporary and historical ceramics. His most recent book is Jun Kaneko: The Space Between, Zurich: Scheidegger & Spiess, 2021. His articles and reviews have appeared in more than thirty different journals, including Ceramics: Art and Perception; Cerámica; American Ceramics; Ceramics Monthly; American Craft; Sculpture; Ceramics Technical; Neue-Keramik; Temperature; Sculpture (Beijing); Ceramic Review; Kerameiki Techni; The NCECA Journal; Metalsmith; and World Sculpture News.
In addition to writing about ceramics he has authored numerous publications on contemporary metalwork, jewelry, and textile art and has been a regular contributor to Ornament since 1997.
