There is a simple plan that will improve your chess and hopefully make playing more enjoyable for you because you will win more. It's a simple plan really.
The general idea is to Learn from Your Mistakes. Of course you could learn from other peoples mistakes as well.
Consistency is key! To have a particular time to play every day. If you have an hour a day then consider playing 2 ten minute games. This would take a max of 20 minutes to play each game and a minimum of 20 minutes to do the game review for both games to learn from your mistakes and those of your opponents. Maybe you don't have an hour all at once. Then maybe you play 5 min games on the go. Maybe play on your phone when you have time throughout the day.
When you play these games play the same first few moves of the game. As white you could play the Jobava London for example.

Jobava-London System (Rapport-Jobava System) - Condensed Version • lichess.org
The plan is to play the same thing until you get it right before you move on to the next thing.
As black you could learn to play the Modern Defense

Then, Puzzles, Puzzles and more Puzzles
to learn tactics and checkmate patterns.
