Henrico Chess Academy

Henrico Chess Academy was formed to increase access to learning and playing chess for kids and adults in Henrico. We offer summer camps, weekly lessons for kids, teens, and adults, and kid-friendly, rated tournaments.

About the founder

Eugene Gateley has had a passion for chess for decades. He has been a chess coach in RVA and has coached beginners to intermediate students at several local Montessori schools, as well as, numerous public and private schools in RVA. He is a founding member of RVA Pieces: the Richmond Chess Club and is an educator in Chesterfield County schools. Eugene has experience working with diverse learners of all ages.
