Tina Schweiss, Women's Chess Coordinator & Associate National TD, will do a breakout on chess in schools.

A local club for area youth to connect with peers and play chess. We focus on the social aspects of chess as well as the technical parts of the sport. We offer summer camps; weekly lessons for all levels; online opportunities to meet up; and kid-friendly, rated, and casual, tournaments for local chess enthusiasts. We are looking to inspire the next generation of chess players.

About the founder

Eugene Gateley has had a passion for chess for decades. He has been a chess coach in RVA and has coached beginners to intermediate students at several local Montessori schools, as well as, numerous public and private schools in RVA. He is a founding member of RVA Pieces: the Richmond Chess Club and has many years experience working with diverse learners of all ages.
