As of 3 August, there are no COVID restrictions in Scotland, see https://www.gov.scot/coronavirus-covid-19/. Since the situation can change rapidly, we recommend staying up to date with the official government announcements.
We recognise that COVID is still around, and participants are of course welcome to take their own precautions. The lecture theatre is larger than we need to make ample space for social distancing. Rapid tests and masks are available to buy cheaply from local pharmacies such as Boots on Byres Road, or Boots on Argyle Street.
For those flying in, we recommend looking at Edinburgh airport as well as Glasgow airport, as they may have better flight options.
From Edinburgh airport, there is a bus (AIR) that goes straight to Buchanan Street bus station.
From Glasgow airport, you can get the airport express bus or the route 77 bus to Buchanan Street bus station. The 77 also goes directly from the airport to Kelvinhaugh, near the university and workshop. There is of course a selection of taxis at the airport.
Within Glasgow, the quickest public transport is the subway, whose closest stop to the university is Hillhead. There are also plenty of buses.
The workshop is in the Joseph Black Building, in the main lecture theatre. We also have rooms B408 and C305 booked for problem sessions.
Accommodation for those that have received one will be at the residence in 15 Kelvinhaugh Gate. Guests can check-in from 2pm on their arrival day. Keys can be collected from Reception in Cairncross House, 20 Kelvinhaugh Place, G3 8NH. Cairncross House is just across the street from Kelvinhaugh Gate residence where your group are staying. Security staff are on duty if guests arrive outside standard office hours.
For Lunch, we suggest any of the places along Byres road and towards Great western road. This is the closest street outside of the university and has a variety of different restaurants to choose from.
Our Monday reception is held in Curlers Rest, a pub near the university. Dinner will be at Bothy.
