19th Amendment Celebration Activities

There is no doubt that this has been a historic year that will be recounted for years to come. I think educators, parents, and people alike have found that the making of history is exhausting. To help reinvigorate our spirits this resource provides premade activities that celebrate the centennial year of the ratification of the 19th amendment; a historical event and movement that can be looked at for inspiration.

Complete three activities in a row on the tic-tac-toe board and submit your work to be entered into a drawing to win a prize. Multiple winners will be chosen and prizes will be mailed to individuals.

An introduction to the 19th Amendment


Digital Museum

Before diving into the plethora of fun interactive activities, take yourself on a self guided tour through this digital museum that gives a timeline of historical events in relation to the 19th amendment and the right to vote.

You can find an interactive game of Jeopardy at the end of the museum that reviews information from throughout the digital exhibits. Also included is a "gift shop" filled with suggested books and other resources about the 19th amendment.

Watch this music video to get an overview of the suffrage movement. In the video you can see historically accurate references to protests, the war of roses, and more. This is a great starting point to peak interest in doing personal research.

Rewatch the video at the completion of activities to see what moments of the video you grew a greater understanding of.

Learn about how symbolism was used to support the suffrage movement.

Review artifacts from the suffrage movement and how they impacted the world.

Recreate your own artifacts to display in a self made museum or donate it to the traveling exhibit.

Learn about the icons of the suffrage movement and how they can inspire you today.

Create a script and dress up as your favorite suffrage icon or create a biography compilation of all your favorite empowering icons.

What movement are you passionate about? Learn about the different ways suffragists informed the masses and get inspired to create your own media.

Voting can be a confusing process we don't always understand. Learn more about aspects of the voter process, such as gerrymandering, through these hands on demonstrations. Food encouraged!

Get inspired to get involved in your community through politics by learning about issues pertaining to voting that still occur today.

Once you have familiarized yourself with the issues, create an action plan for yourself on how you will get involved and take action.
