My name is Girish Keshav Palshikar. I was born on 5th August, 1963.

Education:

M.S. (Computer Science and Engineering) from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (Chennai) in Jan. 1988.

M.Sc. (Physics) from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (Mumbai), in May 1985.

B.Sc. (Physics) from Mumbai (Bombay) University in May 1983.

In 1992, I joined what is now TCS Research (erstwhile Tata Research Development and Design Centre (TRDDC)), Pune, India, where I am now a Chief Scientist. I was made a TCS Distinguished Scientist on 03-Mar-2012. My research interests are in Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing and Theoretical Computer Science and their applications to various domains including fraud and money laundering detection, computational law, human resources management, narrative text analysis, information and knowledge extraction from documents etc.

I am also a Visiting Faculty at the Computer Science Department, Pune University, Pune, India, as well as at the Department of Computer Engineering, College of Engineering, Pune (COEP).
