I am a professor of Business and Management Engineering at the University of Palermo where I teach “Industrial Organization and Strategies” and “Tech Entrepreneurship” both at the master level of the Business and Management Engineering program. I also teach “Technology Management” at ISCTE Business School - Lisbon and “Corporate Open Innovation” at Bayes Business School – London. I act as an expert and mentor for EIT-Health and as advisory board member for some consulting firms. I was Head of the Department of Engineering at University of Palermo from 2019-2021, President of AiIG (the Italian Scientific Association of Business and Management Engineering scholars) from 2019-2021, President of PNICube (the National Association of University Business Incubators) from 2016-2019, President of EurOMA (the European Operations Management Association) from 2016-2019, Head of the Department of Industrial and Digital Innovation at University of Palermo from 2015-2018 and President of Service Innovation Laboratory S.c.r.a.l. from 2013-2022. I was Member of the Steering Committee for the Italian Minister of Research and Education for the program HEInnovate. Furthermore, I was Coordinator of the Engineering Management Degree program at the University of Palermo from 2005-2011, member of the board of ARCA - the Business Incubator of the University of Palermo from 2008-2011 and member of the board of the ISIDA Business School. I was visiting scholar at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, visiting scientist at Aachen Technical University and visiting professor at North Carolina State University. During my career I have managed about 4 millions of Euros in research projects at several levels (EU, national research projects, industrial projects). My scientific activity is focused on Operations and Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship. I hold 81 publications in international academic journals, as stated in the Scopus database, where I have an h-index of 24 and more of 1750 citations.
