From 2015 to 2022, biologists, fishermen, and article reporters reported 100 tons of trash contamination on the beach coast in Guanabara Bay, Brazil. This pollution contaminant has caused an unsanitary environment due to the untreated sewage containing high levels of bacteria in the water, affecting 6.7 million residents who live in Guanabara Bay.
The purpose is to stabilize the levels of bacteria in bodies of water on beaches due to the contamination of garbage.
About Us:
My name is Jacqueline Alvarado and I am currently a senior in the Engineering Magnet Program at Chapin High School, El Paso, Texas. In addition to studying at Chapin, I like to spend time doing community service and helping others in need. I enjoy hanging out with friends and traveling. I was also on the Chapin JV soccer team for 3 years. After I graduate high school in June of 2023, I plan to study for a Bachelor's degree in Geology, then a Master's degree in Business at the University of Texas at El Paso. Studying geology will open pathways for me to work in environmental fields and I hope to one day work as a volcanologist.
