-What do you do in your free time?
In my free time, I engage in many different
activities; for example, I really enjoy painting.
-How many hours of free time do you have?
Lately I've been very busy, so I only have one hour of free time.
-Do you play sports in your free time?
Yes, I train everyday and play volleyball once a week.
-Do you prefer being outside in the fresh air or staying
indoors?
Definitely outside.
-Do you have a favorite sport?
The sport I do most often is strength training at the gym, but I prefer volleyball.
-Do you have a favorite soccer player, and if so, who is it?
I don't really watch soccer often, and I'm not particularly excited by it, but I prefer Messi because of his humble personality.
-How many sports have you done so far?
I think I have tried many different sports.
-How many hours of sports do you do per week?
As I said, I train once a day, so that’s two hours a day, which adds up to 14 hours a week. On weekends, I don't train, but I do other sports. So, I would say on average 14 hours.
-Do you play computer games?
Do you have a favorite winter sport?
In winter, I really enjoy snowboarding and ice skating.
-Can you ski?
Yes, I can.
-Do you have a favorite player in any sport?
Not really, but I really like Nishida in volleyball.
-Do you prefer playing sports outside or in a gym?
Outside.
-What is your opinion on the volunteer fire department?
I think it’s a very good thing, and I think it works very well. Moreover, it’s voluntary, and despite that, there are so many members, which I find commendable. I would say other countries could take inspiration from it.

Intervista a Tom Mair:
Why are you involved with the fire department?
Tom Mair: Since I was a child, I’ve always been fascinated by the red fire trucks, and since my father was a member of the fire department, it was clear to me as a child that my job would be to help other people.
Which volunteer fire department are you part of?
Tom Mair: I am a member of the Marling Volunteer Fire Department and also the Röchling Industrial Fire Department.
What do you do at the fire department?
Tom Mair: At the Marling Volunteer Fire Department, I am the Deputy Youth Leader, and at the Röchling Fire Department, I am the Secretary and Group Leader.
Do you wear a fire department badge on your jacket?
Yes, at the Marling Fire Department, I wear the Deputy Youth Leader badge. It’s a blue rectangle with two white stripes, and at the Industrial Fire Department, I have a red badge with one white stripe.
Do you have a favorite fire truck, and if so, which one?
Tom Mair: My favorite fire truck is, of course, the TLF, which is our Tank Fire Engine, because it’s a big, fantastic vehicle, and it’s fun to drive around in.
Which group are you in?
Tom Mair: At the Marling Fire Department, I’m in the second group.
Were you also in the youth fire department?
Tom Mair: Yes, I was in the youth fire department as well.
What is it like to be a youth leader?
Tom Mair: It’s very nice to be a youth leader and to work with the young people, seeing how they enjoy being part of the fire department. It’s sometimes a bit exhausting, but in the end, it’s a very rewarding task.
How many years have you been with the fire department?
Tom Mair: I’ve been in active service with the fire department for 8 years.
Have you passed the knowledge test?
Tom Mair: Yes, I’ve passed the Bronze and Silver Knowledge Tests.
What do you do in your free time?
Tom Mair: In my free time, I enjoy cycling, meeting with friends, and going fishing. I also work.
How many hours of free time do you have?
That’s a difficult question since I work. Often, my free time is quite limited, so it’s hard to express it in terms of hours.
What is your favorite sport?
Tom Mair: My favorite sport is mountain biking.
Do you have a favorite football player, and if so, who is it?
Tom Mair: I don’t have a favorite football player, as I’m not interested in football.
