Ginaw Bilog received the prize for her dedication to conserving the Hanunuo Mangyan script and Ambahan poetry and for consistently promoting them so that the art would not be lost but would be preserved for future generations.
It was organized by the Makati-Ayala Rotary Club. These folk and traditional artists represent the various cultural traditions and ancestries that have transcended their origins to become a part of our national identity as a whole.
On December 17, 1993, President Fidel V. Ramos honored Ginaw Bilog with the National Living Treasure Award in appreciation of his people's efforts to preserve the Ambahan poetry, which is written on bamboo.
In honor of King Lakandula's commitment to the duties of leadership, prudence, fortitude, courage, and resolution in the service of one's people, it is awarded for political and civic merit.
