VOLUNTEERING

Did you know that young people are almost TWICE as likely to volunteer when at they see at least one of their parents volunteering on a regular basis? ~Corporation for National & Community Service

We need YOU! We are a busy PTG and we have MANY opportunities for service and to have fun while doing it!

We can work around time constraints and busy schedules to help you become more involved in your child's school year. Everybody has talents and skills that can help our school, teachers, and kids!

These are examples of the volunteer help that we request during during the school year:

- - Bringing in baked goods or food supplies for our teacher and staff appreciation events.
  - Helping kids pick out books at Gillette's annual book fair and book swaps.
  - Sell spirit wear and tickets during lunch hours for various PTG and Student Council events.
  - Supervise and assist at after-school clubs and activities.
  - Assist at activity and food stations at various parties and events.
  - Helping students look their best for picture days.

We typically notify parents of upcoming volunteer opportunities by sending an email out to everyone (please email grmsptg@gmail.com if you'd like to be added to our list!) and by posting in the official GRMS PTG Facebook group.

Many of our volunteer opportunities allow you to be in the school to see your Gillette student "in action" and get a feel for what everyday life is like for your child!

Serving with our PTG has many benefits for you AND for your children as well:

- Research shows children whose parents are involved get better grades, do better on tests, and have fewer discipline problems at school.
- Volunteering at Gillette provides a great way to get to know teachers and other school employees and for them to know YOU!
- Being involved with our PTG is a great way to meet parents with similar interests and same-aged children! This then fosters connections between families in our community - it's POWERFUL to create a circle of adult friends around a school!

You can click here to download our Volunteer Information Form if you have special talents and interests you'd like to share - Angela will find a match in our upcoming events and fundraisers just for you! You can either email the completed form to Angela or drop it off at Gillette's front office.

Already volunteered and need a reimbursement?

If you've volunteered for us and need a reimbursement, please click here to download and complete a Volunteer Reimbursement Request form and submit to our PTG President or Vice-President for signature approval (or drop off in the PTG mailbox in Gillette's front office). Our Treasurer will then contact you to arrange a speedy reimbursement!
