In this exhibition at Herne Bay Seaside Museum, Giles Whitehead draws inspiration from his own childhood memories of seaside holidays in the 1970s and from recordings from the museum archive.
“It was fascinating going through the museum’s archived recordings with some recollections going back as far as the 1920s. I was surprised to find out how similar our experiences were, entertaining parents with homemade shows, going shrimping and even squashing pennies on the railway line!”
The exhibition features a display of original two and 3D artwork as well as Giles’s inspiring videos featuring a soundtrack of archived memories and sounds as well as museum artefacts, bringing to life holidays of a bygone era.
The exhibition runs from 25th May – 20th July 2024 at Herne Bay Seaside Museum. Opening times - Tuesday – Saturday 11am – 4pm.
