In the event of a flood, hurricane or other natural disaster, we may lose access to electricity and gas. In such conditions, we cannot prepare a warm meal. How to deal with this? We can use the energy of the sun and prepare a meal in a solar cooker.
The idea of a solar stove is very simple. Just like solar panels, it converts energy from the sun into heat, except that we use it here for cooking and baking. It was invented to enable people who do not have access to electricity or gas to cook meals, treat drinking water and save the wood used in hearths.
We can make such a stove ourselves.
In the photographs you can see how our solar cooker was made. To prepare it, we used a cardboard box, aluminum foil and a plastic plate. The reflective, flat surface focused sunlight. We painted the bottom of the box black so that it absorbs solar energy.
We put a broken, raw egg inside and covered it with a transparent plate that retained heat inside. As a result, the temperature inside has risen to over 40 degrees C. At this temperature, protein denaturation begins. Egg white and egg yolk left in the oven were seen to be changing.
