A majority of fitness platforms lack instructors of different body types and diagnoses, which can deter individuals from participating and create a sense of not belonging. Through this training, the capabilities and strength of individuals with disabilities, especially in those with Down syndrome (DS) was showcased.

Through this training, participants learned foundational information on different elements to exercising. In addition to exercises, they learned how to lead and instruct others. Instructor highlights included guiding others on how to complete exercises with proper form while working out, which promotes skills of leadership and independence.

The training explored the benefits that fitness training can have on an individual’s health and showed at individuals with DS deserve representation within the fitness industry!
