This is the first installment of my self-portrait series that explores childlike "grrrlhood" within a woman’s own space photographed in my apartment with b&w 35mm film. This series also focuses on all of the things I’ve collected within the past 4 years of college from things brought with me from my childhood home in Los Angeles to things I’ve made, bought, and found within my time in New Jersey and other travels along the way.
Location: University Bluffs Beach Apartments in Long Branch, Jersey Shore
Part two of my self-portrait series rejects society’s perception of femininity. I also include an homage to the Jewish, queer, surrealist French photographer Claude Cahun- one of the first androgynous artists from the 1920s and one of my favorites <3 I replace her mask with my bass turning inward, no longer rejecting the thing that makes me but embracing it.
