We're a small family business here in Lawrence, KS.
We're proud to be a queer owned and operated business here in our community. We try hard to center social justice through our lives and business, and we love our two cats Quinn and Cooper.
Ash is originally from upstate NY from a town with more cows than people. Megan is from the KC, MO area; a mere 20 minute drive to downtown. We started a world apart, and somehow found each other, moved to Lawrence, got married, and are working to build our home and family.
We added a third tiny human to our family this year (2021) and are still adjusting to being a family of 3. Little Penelope is a happy and healthy baby, and just what we needed to round out our family for now.
Ash is more of the free-spirit, figure it out on the fly, and make it work type, while Megan is the organized planner who makes sure things will all come together nicely. Together, we make a great team and cover a lot of bases.
Ash is always looking for fun ways to make some money. Finances have tightened up a bit with Megan changing career paths and starting a full time graduate program. A hard work ethic and creativity is something we both learned from our parents, who both owned their own businesses.
The idea of wrapping gifts came to Ash in 2019 when they realized every gift that left the house was wrapped by Ash and was just so darn cute! Ash wished they could just stay home and wrap for everyone. That year, Ash wrapped for one family here in town and believed this could be a real business idea.
When COVID 19 (20, 21, 22...) hit, Ash thought some folks might want and need the extra help, get time back into their day and holiday season, and knew essential workers might not have time to wrap gifts for their own families.
With that, we launched Gift Wrapping by Ash.
In our spare time, Ash works for the Kansas Suicide Prevention Headquarters as a crisis chat specialist and cross stitches. Megan is busy writing papers and her nose can always be found in a book.
