NEXT MEETING:
August 13th, 2024
Anybody is welcome. Simply show up and we will get you started!
Congratulations on becoming a Key Club member! Yes, it's that simple. Anybody can be a Key Club member, regardless of their grade, what activities they are in, or how late in the year they join. Before you can start full-speed ahead, there are a few things you should do.

If you are interested in joining, there are three options on how you can get started:
Attend a Key Club meeting! The best way for us to meet you is to see you at one of our meetings. Check out the Calendar page for our meeting schedule and just show up at the next meeting. When you show up, let us know you're new and want to join, and we will take care of the rest!
AND/OR
Talk to our president, Mia Wilcock! She can give any information and help you! Text her at 9034414335!
AND/OR
Talk to a Key Club officer or member! If you know a friend or any person in Key Club, tell them you're interested in joining! They can tell you when the next meeting is, get you set up, or direct you to somebody who is able to help you become a member.
Yes! We accept members year-round! We are always looking for more people who want to join our cause and make the world a better place! Only a couple of differences apply between you and those who joined early in the year. If you join and pay your dues you will be considered an official member according to the Texas-Oklahoma District and International guidelines. This simply means that you would receive a membership card, access to online resources, be eligible for senior stoles and medals, and be able to attend our annual district convention, LEDCON. If you join AFTER dues , you CAN still be a member and participate with us. The only difference is that only GHS Key Club considers you a member and not the upper powers. However, your service hours still count for you and you can attend every meeting, service event, and ceremony you'd like.
Yes, it does, BUT we NEVER turn anybody away just because they are unable to pay their dues. All members are required to pay their $25 dues. This helps pay for the fees the club has to pay to the state and international organizations in order to be considered an official "Key Club." These dues also help pay for the district convention we take members to in the spring as well as many other services. All members are also required to pay their shirt dues for an official GHS Key Club shirt we wear at events. HOWEVER, if a member is unable to cover their dues, they can talk to Mr. Hinchey and we will offer financial assistance for them. We never want anyone to not participate in Key Club simply because of money. Just talk to us!
Yes! Here at GHS Key Club, we want members who keep their minds active and have a diverse portfolio. Our members are very involved both academically and in extracurriculars. We only meet twice a month, every other Tuesday, for about 20 minutes. Ideally, you should attend both meetings. However, we only require that you attend at least one a month to be a member. This allows our students to be very involved in other activities. In terms of service projects, we normally try to schedule at least half of them on the weekends. This allows our members to stay busy during the week and be able to attend service events on the days they are free. However, we also have events on the weekdays, either after school or occasionally during class. Whatever your situation may be, just talk to us and we will figure something out!
NO! It does not matter what grade you are in. It is never too early or too late to join us! We have students who join as soon as they enter high school. We have students who don't join until their senior year! Whatever your case may be, we have members of all ages, so we invite you to give it a try!
As a high school student, you’re just beginning to find your place in the world. If you’re looking for a place where you can make a difference in the lives of others and in your own, you belong in Key Club. If you’re looking for a place to meet lifelong friends, you belong in Key Club. If you’re looking for a place to do more than you ever thought you could, you belong in Key Club. If you love serving others, you belong in Key Club.
It looks AMAZING on college applications and job resumes! Unlike many other organizations, Key Club is an international club, which means that we are officially recognized by almost every college worldwide! It not only shows off your leadership skills, but it shows off your willingness to serve! Additionally, by participating in Key Club, you have the opportunity to earn big scholarships you otherwise wouldn't have access to.
Everyone else is doing it! Almost every student at GHS participates in community service of some kind. We believe Key Club is the best place to do it. With over 100 members, we are the BIGGEST service organization on campus. We have kids in athletics, band, cheer, flashes, theater, choir, culinary, solar car, robotics, ROTC, you name it! You will get to meet individuals who can teach you A LOT!
Be a part of something bigger than yourself! Maybe you have never heard of Key Club, but in reality, it is a massive thing. There are over 251,000 members in over 40 different countries. We assure you that you will make TONS of friends along the way.
You gain many benefits that you didn't even imagine! You can become more effective and confident by serving and learning that you can influence real social challenges, problems, and needs. It is also proven that students who participate in community service start earning higher grades. Key Club members develop strong leadership skills with each opportunity to step up and take part in service projects, social activities, and club functions. You even start making a name for yourself in the community by being in the newspaper and impacting others.
