A specific question is investigated by reconstructing the structures, actors, rules, mechanisms and dependencies that determine the outcome. The research connects information across institutional, regulatory, commercial and operational sources to establish how the relevant parts of the market fit together and what they mean in practice.

The analysis distinguishes between what is formally established, what has been announced, what is operational, what has been publicly demonstrated and what remains pending, uncertain or unresolved. It identifies the conditions and dependencies behind a market outcome, including relevant institutions, licences, agreements, counterparties, financing structures, physical flows, refining capacity, market-access requirements and other factors material to the question.

AI systems are used extensively throughout the research workflow for information retrieval, source analysis, cross-source comparison, synthesis and report production. The research architecture, analytical framework, prompts and workflows are designed and directed by a single researcher, who assesses the resulting output.

The result is intelligence that establishes how the relevant system works, where the material dependencies and gaps are, what can be established from the available evidence, and what this means for the specific question being examined.
