FAQ's

how can I audition for the team?

Check out the tab labeled "Join the Team" for more information on how you can audition. Dancers who audition in person or virtually before the June 1st deadline will be notified during the summer if they have passed their audition.

What is the time commitment like?

The time commitment for the GFU Dance Team varies depending on how involved YOU want to be and is very flexible for members. We have 2 smaller teams within the GFUDT name: Performance Team and Competition Team.

The Performance Team practices twice a week, for 1.5-2 hours each practice with performances at all home football and basketball games, along with some community and university events. Competition Team practices an extra 2-3 hours every week. If a dancer is also on leadership, the leadership group has responsibilities that they maintain throughout the season. We build our team schedule around the schedules of our members and recognize that academics always come first. Our members come from an array of majors and find the time commitment very manageable throughout the year. Members can work with the leadership team to find a schedule that best suits their preferred level of involvement.

Where does the team perform?

What styles of dance does the team do?

The team dances mainly jazz, hip hop, and pom at athletic and university events. The Competition Team performs dances that include those same styles, as well as routines with elements of lyrical, contemporary, and modern styles.
