My experience as a STEM ambassador last year was a fun and memorable time. I used to be nervous about standing in front of students, and I was not very vocal. Being a STEM ambassador helped me learn to interact with kids/ students. I have a student I tutor right now, and if I didn't have any prior experience, it would've been very hard. My most memorable time as a STEM ambassador was the educational field trips we took with students. When they got excited and started pointing out things that were familiar or things we learned in our lessons, it made being a STEM ambassador worth it. Some of the struggles I had as a STEM ambassador was learning to be social and interact with the kids and I didn't know what to do when I was not very familiar with the topic when students had questions. I learned to be more prepared before lessons, which made it better.
I want to learn what to do when students of different ages don't want to work together. Last summer I had classes where there were some younger kids and some older kids, so the older kids didn't want to work with the younger kids when it was time to be divided into groups.
I also want to learn how to interact with less social students.
