Meet the Teacher, Mme Stokes

Bonjour! I am Sherri Stokes, the Grade 7-8 and Grade 8 French Immersion teacher at Uxbridge Public School. I love teaching, finding new and innovative ideas in order to teach the curriculum, and to keep all learners engaged. I differentiate my program, environment, and assessments in order for all students to find a pathway to reach their full potential. I love embedding technology into my program, and teaching these programs to staff and students. Technology facilitates learning and the communication of ideas.

Over the years I have been in a variety of teaching and leadership roles in both French and English. I have been a Special Education Resource Coach, A Special Education Resource Teacher, Classroom teacher to English and French Immersion students, Core French teacher, Teacher Librarian, and Literacy/Numeracy Coach. I have taught across all grades from Kindergarten to Grade 8.

In my classroom, I believe in teaching so that all students get "Stoked about Learning"

• Students are engaged in activities that spark their interest and facilitate oral communication.
• Students are empowered to make meaningful connections between the curriculum and their everyday lives as their learning is deepened.
• There's lots of excitement - and sometimes noise - as we collaborate to problem solve and grow as a community of learners.
• I gamify my program, in the past I have created Pokematiques, Math Quest, and now this year "La Conquête du Monde (CdM)"
