You will hear 2 acronyms from your children quite a lot this year. Here is a brief description and a link to read more about the CEFR and the DELF.
The CEFR is the Common European Framework of Reference is a term you will hear over the course of the year. It is the framework we will be using as we learn and develop our French Language. Click on the acronym to read more about it.
The DELF (Diplome d’etudes en langue francaise), is an assessment that evaluates second-language proficiency. It officially certifies the ability of students to use French in real-life situations based on the six competence levels identified within the CEFR. Students will be tested in September to find out their strengths and needs and then again throughout the year. You will be provided with the results after each assessment.
Students will be assessed using the DELF 4 times throughout the year. Students should be able to successfully achieve A2 by the end of Grade 8, however, some students may be able to find success in the B1 assessement. This will be communicated to you each time we complete the assessments. Home practice will help students meet their individual goals.
