Dell Color Laser Printer 1320C Driver Xp

I bought a new-to-me Dell 1320C color laser printer for my laptop. Found a link on Dell website to download the driver for Windows 10, it didn't work. I connected the printer to my laptop, it showed up under "printers and devices" but it's marked as "driver unavailable". Can't right click the icon to change settings other than left clicking to remove it from my computer. Tried installing it manually but Dell 1320C didn't show up once I got into the manual installation mode. I even tried installing the management pack but it didn't help. Found zero earlier versions to download. Any suggestions?

I had the exact same problem and took a few hours to finally figure it out.

Step 1: Download the driver here: -au/product-support/product/dell-1320c/drivers

Step 2: Save it to a safe folder

Step 3: Go to Control Panel --> View Devices & Printers --> Right click on the program and click Properties --> Hardware --> Properties and the option where they prompt you to update your driver (sorry since I've updated mine the option has disappeared) --> Click on update driver --> Browse my computer for drivers

I found that after the windows 10 anniversary update, the drivers reverted to very basic options and no manual duplex mode. I used the above software to update the driver but the problem persisted. I had to expand the file, and save the expanded folders/files. I then right click the printer in Printers and Devices, went to printer properties, advanced, then New Driver. After clicking next I selected Have Disk and pointed to Win_x64 folder under Drivers. Windows found the inf file and installed it. Now I have full functionality as before including manual duplex.

Setting the paper source to Tray 1 allows me to print using the default driver installed by Windows 10 (Dell 1320c HBP). But this driver doesn't have the option for manual duplex printing. When i go into add printer it finds the printer and attempts to instal. It instals but goes into grey with a message saying no print driver and the only option ( left click, right click, you name it ) is delete printer. I cannot find any option to add driver or update driver.

I have followed the links in similar questions but Xerox has ended support for the Docuprint C525a printer. Their support site sends you to a page to discuss a new printer, which people say has similar drivers to the Dell 1320c so I wondered if somebody could help with a working link for those drivers.

It's not likely a standalone network print server will solve your issue here as the print server doesn't magically have every driver for every printer. In fact, it just acts as a "pass through" - your computer will still need the printer drivers to print to it.

If you must use this printer, instead of using Bootcamp, use a VM through VirtualBox (free). This allows you to spin up the Windows machine with the correct drivers without having to shutdown macOS and boot Windows. Once you're done, you just close the VM and continue on.
