GeoSnap: GPS Map Camera
Developer: MD Developer Studio
Effective date: September 30, 2026
Last updated: September 30, 2026
MD Developer Studio ("we", "us", "our") built the GeoSnap: GPS Map Camera app (the "App") for Android. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App uses, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. By using the App you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. SUMMARY
- Your photos are processed and saved only on your device. We do not upload your photos to any server, and we do not operate our own servers that store your data.
- The App uses your device's location only while you are using it, to add the address, map and coordinates to your photos.
- To show addresses, maps and weather, the App sends your coordinates to third-party services (listed in Section 5).
- The App shows ads (Google AdMob) and uses Google Firebase (Analytics and Crashlytics) to understand app usage and fix crashes. These services collect device identifiers and usage data as described below.
- We do not sell your personal information.
2. INFORMATION THE APP USES
2.1 Photos and camera
The App uses your device camera to take photos. Photos, and the location/time stamp drawn on them, are created on your device and saved to the App's private storage and to your device's photo gallery (album "GeoSnap"). We never receive or upload your photos. Photos are shared only if you choose to share them using the Share option.
Important: photos taken with the App contain your location in two ways: (a) the visible stamp on the image, and (b) GPS information embedded in the photo file (EXIF metadata). Anyone you share a photo with can see this information.
2.2 Location
With your permission, the App accesses your device's precise and approximate location only while the App is open and in use (it does not access location in the background). Location is used to:
- show your address, coordinates, Plus Code, altitude and map on the photo stamp;
- look up the address for your coordinates (reverse geocoding);
- get current weather for your location.
You can also enter a location manually instead of using GPS. Location data is stored on your device (inside the photo and in the App's photo list) and is not stored by us.
2.3 Information you enter
Notes, hashtags, person names, labels and manual addresses you type into templates are stored only on your device.
2.4 Device sensors
The compass and magnetic field values come from your device's sensors and are used only on your device to display on the stamp.
2.5 Information collected automatically by third-party services
When you use the App, Google AdMob and Google Firebase may automatically collect:
- device information (device model, operating system version, language, screen size);
- identifiers such as the Android Advertising ID, Firebase installation ID and app instance ID;
- IP address and approximate location derived from it;
- app usage and interaction data (for example, screens viewed, features used, session length, ad impressions and clicks);
- crash reports and diagnostic information (stack traces, device state at the time of a crash).
3. HOW WE USE INFORMATION
We use information to:
- provide the App's core features (camera, location stamp, map, weather, templates, photo collection);
- show advertisements that help keep the App free;
- understand how the App is used so we can improve it;
- detect, diagnose and fix crashes and bugs;
- offer in-app updates through Google Play;
- respond to your support requests;
- comply with legal obligations and prevent fraud or abuse.
4. PERMISSIONS THE APP REQUESTS
- Camera: to take photos.
- Location (precise and approximate, only while using the App): to stamp location details on photos.
- Internet and network state: to load maps, addresses, weather and ads, and to send crash reports.
- Storage (only on Android 9 and older): to save photos to your gallery. On Android 10 and newer, no storage or media permission is requested.
You can change or revoke permissions at any time in your device Settings. Some features will not work without them (for example, the location stamp without the location permission).
5. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
The App uses the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy, which applies to the information it collects.
- Google AdMob (advertising) — https://policies.google.com/privacy and https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads
- Google Firebase Analytics — https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
- Google Firebase Crashlytics — https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
- Google Play Services (including in-app updates) — https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Android / Google geocoding service (address lookup from coordinates) — https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Open-Meteo (weather data; receives your coordinates) — https://open-meteo.com/en/terms
- Map tile provider (map images; receives the map area you are viewing and your IP address) — OpenStreetMap (https://osmfoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_Policy) or another map provider we may use in the future.
We only share the minimum information each service needs to provide its function.
6. ADVERTISING
The App displays ads provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may use the Advertising ID and cookies or similar technologies to show ads, measure ad performance and, where permitted, show personalized ads based on your interests.
- Users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland will be asked for consent before personalized ads are shown, using Google's consent tools. You can change your choice at any time from the App's settings (where available).
- You can opt out of personalized ads or reset your Advertising ID in your device settings (Settings > Google > Ads, or Settings > Privacy > Ads, depending on your device).
- If you opt out, you will still see ads, but they will be less relevant to you.
7. HOW INFORMATION IS SHARED
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. Information may be shared only:
- with the service providers listed in Section 5, to operate the App;
- if required by law, court order or a government request;
- to protect the rights, safety and property of our users, the public or MD Developer Studio;
- in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this Privacy Policy will continue to apply.
8. DATA RETENTION
- Photos, locations and text you enter stay on your device until you delete them. Deleting a photo inside the App removes it from the App; the copy in your gallery must be deleted from your gallery app. Uninstalling the App removes its private data but not photos in your gallery.
- Firebase Analytics data is kept according to Google's retention settings (up to 14 months).
- Firebase Crashlytics crash reports are kept for up to 90 days.
- AdMob data is kept according to Google's policies.
9. DATA SECURITY
Data sent to third-party services is transmitted using encrypted connections (HTTPS) where supported. Your photos never leave your device unless you share them. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable measures to protect information.
10. YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES
Depending on where you live (including under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation, and US state laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act), you may have the right to:
- access the personal data held about you;
- correct or update it;
- request deletion of it;
- withdraw consent (for example, for personalized ads or location access);
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- file a complaint with a data protection authority.
Because we do not store your photos or location on our own servers, most of your data can be controlled directly on your device: delete photos, revoke permissions, reset your Advertising ID, or uninstall the App. For requests about data held by Firebase or AdMob, contact us at the email below and we will help within 30 days.
11. CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
The App is not directed to children under 13 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Users under 18 should use the App only with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
12. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS
Third-party services such as Google may process information on servers located outside your country, including in the United States. These providers use appropriate safeguards required by applicable law.
13. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes are effective when posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date. For significant changes we will notify you inside the App. Continuing to use the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
