Block Center

Block Center should be located away from High Traffic Areas and Large Enough for at least 5 Children.

Shelves or Organized Storage should be utilized in this learning area.

Basic Materials:

• Standard Unit Blocks (200-250)

• Large (Pre-K Size) Hollow Blocks (20-30)

• 3 Types of Block Accessories. For Example:  Vehicles, Animals, Traffic Signs, People

• 2 Types of Real/Found Materials. For Example: Egg Cartons, PVC Pipe, Cups, Cardboard Tubes

• Materials to Promote Literacy Development. For Example: Maps, Alphabet Blocks, Books for Block Play, Writing Materials

• Additional Type of Block (10-20). For Example: Cardboard, Foam, Plastic
