Classroom Display

The classroom should be inviting, clean, organized and visually appealing to children.  The classroom furnishings, carpets, rugs and materials should be cleaned on a regular basis.  Materials and shelves should be labeled appropriately.  Your display should include photos of children and their families.

The majority of the display (more than 50%)  should be unique child initiated.  Dittos, worksheets, teacher directed work and patterned artwork are not considered child initiated.  Remember you will want to display work no longer than six weeks.  Be sure to include child dictation on their artwork.

Chart Stories: The purpose of creating and posting charts is to support literacy development.  It is important for children to understand print knowledge early.
