I'm so excited to have been selected to join Homeward Bound 8, a leadership program for women and non-binary people in STEMM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics, medicine), focused on ensuring climate decision making is evidence based and put into action!
I'm fundraising this year to support the costs associated with participating, visit my chuffed page to see what perks I have on offer: https://chuffed.org/project/GWdoesHB8
Ever since I heard of Number 99 in Port Kembla, a creative space for artists to host workshops for the community, I've wanted to be involved!
The lovely Ali and Elle at Number 99 let me take over their workshop on Antarctica Day, December 1st, to host a workshop with kids where they could design their own Antarctic flag, ask questions about science, biodiversity and how people all around the world work together š
I'll take these flags with me to Antarctica and bring them back for these great kiddos as a special memento!
I first met Liz Courtney, Director of this film, during World Ocean Week in Sydney. She kindly agreed to support my leadership journey and came down to Wollongong especially for a film screening and Q&A panel
Alongside my friend Shae who provided a yummy vegan dinner, this event raised $2,000 towards my voyage with Homeward Bound.
My path first crossed with Kal Glanznig at a Youth Leadership Summit in the Illawarra, hosted by Surfers for Climate.Ā
Kal showed a snippet of his film RIsing up at this event and I knew I wanted to showcase the whole film for our climate and plastics conscious community here in Wollongong
Together we raised $1,500 towards my leadership journey, with special thanks to the UOW Science Space for waiving the venue fee.
Myself (HB8), Tamantha Stutchbury (HB5) and Martina Sanderson-Smith (HB7) celebrated a special screening of Hidden Figures, Ā the story of three Black, female mathematicians who helped NASA win the space race.Ā
Together we raised $1,500 towards my leadership journey, with special thanks to the UOW Science Space for waiving the venue hire fee.
Together we raised over $300 at Wolf & Woman Distillery on April 29th, with a gin tasting, games and lucky door prizes.
Wolf & Woman very kindly donated a bottle of gin which we raffled off on the day, raising an additional $120 & providing the opportunity to chat to their patrons about my fundraising efforts.Ā
Special thanks go toĀ
Rhiannon from Calmsley Hill City Farm for donating family passes
