Woodworking

Frame

Winter 2020

I made this frame to display a crochet design also made by me. I attached a series of hooks along the inner surface to pull the crochet piece taut. The tools I used included a chop saw, table saw, router, drill, and finish sander. The wood is walnut finished with Tung oil.

Climbing Wall

Summer 2020

A project in collaboration with my dad. Project steps:

  • cut six pieces of plywood to fit the back of the garage

  • drilled a pattern of holes for the climbing holds

  • painted the wood with paint and sand for a rough texture

  • nailed the plywood to the outside of the garage through the studs

  • re-drilled the holes through the garage wall

  • hammered threaded nuts into the inside of the wall for easy installation of climbing holds

Picnic Table

Summer 2020

Another project in collaboration with my dad, made out of an old fence that fell down. We followed a pattern, but because it was difficult to get the center angles of the supporting beams exactly right, we ended up having to alter some of the measurements to fit our uneven angles.

Bench

Summer 2019

My dad and I built a simple cedar bench to be used in our backyard.

Earring Holder

April 2016

I made this earring holder out of a basic picture frame shape and a tray attached below (for holding my studs). The compartments on the tray were hollowed out using a router. On the back, I used the router to make a notch that goes all the way around the frame. The screen was then attached by using a roller to push a thin strip of rubber on top of the screen into the notch in the back.
