GEOMUN offers a place for all delegates, from beginner delegates to experienced in a friendly, supportive yet educational environment. We have chosen our three committees strategically to reflect the key aspects of larger in-person conferences and allow delegates to work at their own pace, with like-minded individuals. By crafting our committees to target specific characteristics of the Model UN experience, we guarantee a sophisticated virtual conference which connects delegates from around the globe to continue their Model UN journey, despite these troubling times. We also strive to ensure that delegates do not feel the divide between a true Model UN conference and a virtual conference, which is why we have scheduled interactive activities such as a Game Night on the second day of the conference, to simulate aspects of conferences where delegates have a chance to unwind after committee.
The conference will run from Friday, July 9th to Sunday, July 11th. For a detailed look at the schedule of the conference please check out the Schedule page.
Zone 1:
UTC -9 to UTC -2

Zone 3:

*Please note that your zone is dependent on the timezone completely, not necessarily your region (regions listed are a rough guideline and it is possible that it may not correlate with the timezone).
The committees for GeoMUN 2020 are listed here. We have carefully selected three committees for all zones to simulate as to maintain a similar conference experience for all delegates. To ensure that we match all levels of expertise we have a beginner General Assembly style committee, a medium-sized Specialized Agency and an advanced Crisis Committee.
There will be a $5.00 USD fee for individual delegates, $3.00 USD fee for small delegations (per delegate) and $2.00 USD for large delegations (per delegate). 100% of proceeds going to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund run by the World Health Organization.
Our GEOMUN committees vary in format based on the proficiency and popularity of the Model UN formats in their zone. At GEOMUN we are offering three main formats of debate: UNA-USA, THIMUN and Crisis. Zone 1's UNHCR and NATO committees will run on UNA-USA alongside NATO in Zone 2 and UNHCR in Zone 3. THIMUN will be operated in UNHCR for Zone 2 and NATO for Zone 3. Crisis will be run in all Ad Hoc committees. For more details about these different format please check out our Rules of Procedure document on our Preparation page!
Yes, there will be individual awards offered for all committees alongside delegation awards as well. All committees in each zone will have a Best Delegate, Honourable Mention and Verbal Commendation awards. The number of Verbal Commendation awards per committee will be up to the discretion of the DAIS. Best, Outstanding and Honourable Delegation Awards will also be given out to large and small delegations in each zone and an overall Best Delegation award for all zones will be handed out to large and small delegations. Due to our no fee policy we will be unable to have physical plaques or gavels, we will be emailing printable PDFs to all winners. For more information about our awards policy check out the Delegation Preparation Manual which is on our Preparation page.
We do not have a limit on our number of delegates per zone for our Specialized Agency and Crisis Committee provided the spots for our committees do not fill up. However, our General Assembly committee will have a cap of 100 delegates to comply with Google Meet video call restrictions. Check out the Country Matrix page to see how many spots are available per committee.
Under the committees page you will able to access the emails of each committee in the case of any related questions or concerns that you may have.
