When igneous rocks contains more than 90% of felsic minerals, it shows very light color when compared to other mafic mineral rocks and it is said to be Leucocratic.
When igneous rocks contains 50-60% of mafic minerals, it shows dark color when compared to felsic rocks and it is said to be Melanocratic.
Other than Leucocratic and Melanocratic, some igneous rocks shows mixed light and dark color. This type of mixed rock type is called as Mesocratic.
