Founder Secretary

Kulapathi Shri. A.P.C. Veerabahu had understood the fact that the independence of the nation alone will not raise the standard of the people. Having seen the condition of the socially and economically deprived section even after independence, Kulapathy realised that education alone would liberate them in the real sense. So in the year 1951, he founded V.O.Chidambaram College in the name of great patriot and freedom fighter V.O.Chidambaram who was the chief organizer of Swadeshi movement and founder of swadeshi Steam Navigation Company. Starting from its inception till now, the college remains a temple of learning for all the deprived sections of people in the Southern Tamil Nadu. The successful establishment of V.O.Chidambaram College led to the founding of V.O.Chidambaram College of Education in 1955 and A.P.C.Mahalaxmi College for Women in the year 1973.

Hon. Secretay A.P.C.V. Chockalingam

The Honorary secretary of our institution Shri. A. P. C. V. Chockalingam has succeeded the leadership from Kulapathy A.P.C. Veerabahu, the founder of V.O. Chidambaram group of Institutions. The main thoughts of our founder is shown in the leadership actions of our secretary A. P. C. V. Chockalingam. He provides the deeds of bringing wisdom light to Livelihood and our secretary has held versatile feathers in his life. In addition to being a Secretary of V.O. Chidambaram Educational Society, he is also serving as President of Dakshina Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha, Trichy.

As a credit for our Secretary’s hard work and interest towards education, Government of Tamilnadu has chosen him three times as a search Panel Committee member for Vice Chancellor Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli. His rich experience in college and academic administration made him as a Secretary for Association of Management Colleges affiliated to Manonmaniam Sundaranar University. As a part of his social activity Shri.A.P.C.V.Chocklingam is serving as President and Vice President of Tuticorin Permanent Fund, for more than 35 Years. Authority of Tuticorin district seeking him as a peace committee member whenever the district facing extraordinary situation. His vision to initiate post graduate courses and research centres in various science departments is now extending helping hands to talented students of rural area and first-generation students. Apart from all, he is the living testimonial for ethics, peace and clear hand gives education to the deprived sections of students from southern parts of Tamilnadu.

Principal

Principal Dr.C.Veerabahu, is the eighth in the line of his predecessors. In his 23 years of service, he has several credentials to his name. Presently he is serving as Syndicate Member of Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli. He has completed 4 research projects, 18 research papers in peer reviewed journals, published 3 books, guided 8 Ph.D candidates. In his 8 years tenure as a principal, V.O. Chidambaram College scored consecutively three times 3.32 out of 4 ‘A’ grade in NACC assessment, received UGC Paramarsh and STRIDE scheme. UGC recognised V.O. Chidambaram college as one of the mentor institution based on its previous NAAC scores to monitor nearby colleges and encourage them to go through the NAAC processes. In MHRD Government of India All India NIRF ranking V.O. Chidambaram College scored 77^th 2019 and 68^th rank in the year 2020. In 2021 India Today ranking V.O. Chidambaram College ranked within 10^th in All India level for “Best value for money” and for “low Fees”.
