We depend on forests for our survival, from the air we breathe to the wood we use. To maintain proper ecological balance 33% forest cover is required of its total area. As of 2019, the total forest cover in India is 712,249 Sq. km (71.22 million hectares), which is 21.67 percent of the total geographical area and as of 2017, the recorded forest area of the West Bengal is 11,879 sq. km which is 13.38% of its geographical area. Therefore, mass tree plantation programme across the state is highly required. To keep in mind, this year the students and faculty members decided to celebrate "Aranya Saptaha" by planting at least a seedling at their house premises. To view the details please click here
