Individual academic departments/programs at Dartmouth each view British A-Levels differently and should be contacted directly regarding credit on entrance and placement requests. In some cases, students who have achieved a grade of A in an A-Level examination may receive specified credit on entrance in place of, not in addition to, the general A-Level credit on entrance awarded. Department/program guidelines are listed below.

Individual academic departments/programs at Dartmouth each view IB differently and should be contacted directly regarding credit on entrance and placement requests. In some cases, students who have achieved scores of 6 or 7 on Higher Level IB examinations may receive specified credit on entrance in place of, not in addition to, the general IB credit on entrance awarded. Department/program guidelines are listed below.

Advanced Placement exams are designed to model college courses, many of which are curved. Also, one of the primary goals of the College Board is to maintain exam consistency over the years, even though the test questions change. So, the scoring guidelines are reflected to account for these needs. Make sure to note that since there is a curve, a 5 can be difficult to achieve. The curve is designed to give the majority of students a score of 3, which is why in 2016, only 12% of test takers received a 5.

Students who present an International Baccalaureate exam may qualify for university credit, depending on the level of the examination and the grade received. Arizona State University grants credit for higher-level courses and some standard-level courses. A high-level grade of five qualifies the student to receive credit for up to two introductory courses while a grade of four qualifies a student to receive credit for one introductory course. No credit is awarded for English as a second language (English B). Credit is awarded according to the International Baccalaureate credit table below.

The examination is prepared by the instructor who normally conducts the course, and it is comprehensive in nature and scope. The instructor and other experts designated by the chairperson grade the examination, using letter grades "A+", "A", "A-", "B+", "B", "B-", "C+", "C", "D" or "E". If the grade is "C" or higher, a mark of "Y" is entered on the student's permanent record; otherwise, no entry is made. Credit by examination is indicated as such on the record. The student is notified by mail of the result of the examination. In cases of failure ("D" or "E"), the student is not given an opportunity to repeat the examination.

A student pursuing a second baccalaureate degree may not receive credit by comprehensive examination, but with prior approval of the college the student may use the examination to waive a course requirement if a grade of "C" or higher is earned.

Certain risk factors increase risk for cervical cancer, including HIV infection, a compromised immune system, in utero exposure to diethylstilbestrol, and previous treatment of a high-grade precancerous lesion or cervical cancer. Women with these risk factors are not included in this recommendation and should receive individualized follow-up. Women who have had a hysterectomy with removal of the cervix and do not have a history of a high-grade precancerous lesion or cervical cancer are not at risk for cervical cancer and should not be screened. As part of the clinical evaluation, clinicians should confirm through review of surgical records or direct examination that the cervix was removed.

This course provides a sensible introduction to AP curriculum for 9th and 10th grade high school students; however, students should not assume they can effortlessly pass the exam. AP Human Geography especially benefits students considering diverse college majors including anthropology, art history, and cultural studies.

Students who do not pass the MCAS tests in grade 10 may take retests according to these participation guidelines in grades 11 and 12 and beyond. Some students may also be able to participate in an appeal process as described below.

Credit by exam (CBE) is one method for students to demonstrate proficiency in grade level or course content. The Texas Education Code (TEC), 28.023, allows students to either accelerate a grade level or earn credit for a course based on credit by examination.

VCU awards advanced standing and credit, with qualifying scores or grades, for additional sources of academic credit. These additional sources include: Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, Cambridge Advanced, College Level Examination Program, military service credit recommended by the American Council on Education and the DANTES Subject Standardized Test Program. Students should consult the charts below for academic credit guidelines.

The awarding of credit is determined by the faculty. Faculty members from the relevant academic departments review the subject curricula, subject examinations, grade distributions and marking schemes provided by these examination agencies. After reviewing such materials, faculty members make informed judgments about what credit, if any, is to be awarded. Faculty members verify such judgments through feedback provided from student performance in more advanced courses at VCU. Once the faculty review is complete, the University Undergraduate Curriculum Committee provides a secondary review and then publishes the results by means of transfer tables in the VCU Undergraduate Bulletin indicating the examination, test score, VCU course equivalent and number of credits awarded.

Each 3 or 4 credit course with a grade of B or better will earn 3 advanced placement units. Students will still be required to take the full 120 credits necessary for graduation, unless they have the equivalency of 30 credits, in which case they may qualify for Advanced Standing and would be eligible to graduate from Boston College in 3 years. College transcripts for these courses should be submitted to the Office of Transfer Admission by August 1. Students who enroll at a local college to satisfy high school graduation requirements are not eligible for advanced placement units unless they take the corresponding College Board AP exams and earn qualifying scores.

Following the implementation of the Tennessee Diploma Project in 2009, high school students must complete 22 credits to graduate. They also will be tested in core subject areas with End of Course exams, part of the Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program, or TCAP. Their performance on these exams will factor into their semester grade for the course.

No graded quizzes or exams (excluding in-class presentations) may be given during the last five days of the semester (last two days of the session for summer school) before the beginning of the final examination period.

Credit earned by examination is not used in figuring out grade point averages. However, it does become part of your official record and may be applied toward graduation requirements. Iowa State will allow a maximum of 60 credits of prior learning credit to satisfy a student's undergraduate degree requirements, of which no more than 32 credits may come from the credit by exam. Please note that you will at least need to have one year of residency for graduation.
