Welcome to my page! Here's a little about me, although I can't imagine how you've gotten to this page without already knowing me at least a little. I'm not saying that I'm not special, but it's not like I'm ever going to be an NYT crossword answer.
Anyway, I graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Law, originally focusing on Criminal Law and Cybercrime. In that time, I spent time a both the State's Attorney's Office and Office of the Public Defender. I also worked with the defense team on the third circuit criminal appeal for the original AT&T iPad data breach case.
Cybercrime led to working on Cyber Risk insurance cases and I suddenly found I'd become a policyholder-side insurance coverage litigation attorney, representing clients in mostly in the technology, SaaS, real estate, construction, and hospitality sectors in complex insurance disputes. From that I went on to doing a lot of advisory, contract, transactional, and insurance/risk management review work.
Now I use my litigation background (mostly) for good instead of evil, leveraging that experience to prevent lawsuits by anticipating potential issues; and developing proven risk management/mitigation solutions; and establish insurance programs for when those things fail. When done right, this helps clients avoid or solve most disputes before they become lawsuits (always better than actual lawsuits). Contracts are fulfilled; insurance companies pay claims; and the insured/insurer relationship grows into a reliable partnership.
I provide full service outsourced risk management and consult on real estate acquisitions and divestitures, construction, real estate portfolio master insurance programs, affordable housing, corporate mergers, equity transactions, cyber risk, service and SaaS contracts, and representation and warranty issues. I'm experiences in complex contract negotiation and drafting, regularly negotiating the insurance and risk management requirements on large municipal ground leases, construction contracts, loan agreements, and service agreements.
You'll also regularly find me teaching on the subjects of contractual risk transfer, insurance law, cyber risk, artificial intelligence, and legal ethics for the American Bar Association and various industry groups. If you're another attorney, there's a good chance we met there.
