Starting in 2006, I enrolled in Economy & Finance at the University of Chieti Pescara, but my academic path truly found direction when I switched to Geological Science in 2007. After struggling with certain law courses (particularly Diritto Privato), I realized my scientific high school background made me better suited for a STEM degree.
I completed my Bachelor's degree within the standard three years and immediately continued to the Master's program, as is customary in Italy. During my graduate studies, I participated in the Erasmus program, which included a transformative five-month study abroad experience in Oulu, Finland, along with numerous field experiences across Italy and Europe.
Although this international experience slightly delayed my graduation, it was the most valuable part of my university years. It opened my eyes to the wider world and inspired me to pursue an international career path. The exposure to different academic environments and geological settings proved invaluable to my professional development.
I thoroughly enjoyed all six years dedicated to Geological Science and continue to enhance my knowledge and expertise in this field, while gradually expanding into business analytics and computer science.
Both my Master's and Bachelor's dissertations involved qualitative seismic interpretation for reconstructing tectonic and stratigraphic configurations in offshore areas, complemented by well data correlations. Detailed summaries of these research projects are available below.
Bachelor Degree Thesis - Presented 20 December 2010
My Bachelor's degree final dissertation, concerned the tectonic and stratigraphic reconstruction of the Laurentian Basin, Offshore Atlantic Canada. I tried to reconstruct the assets of the Laurentian basin trough the qualitative interpretation of 2D public domain seismic data. I was able to identify the structures associated to salt tectonics and the main normal fault system related to the Atlantic drift.
The main text is available in Italian only with abstract in English.
I will be happy to share with everyone my discoveries feel free to ask me a copy of the dissertation.
Master Degree Thesis - Presented 18 December 2013
My Master's thesis focused on seismic interpretation of reprocessed 2D data using IHS Kingdom 8.0 software to reconstruct horizons within Quaternary deposits off the Central Italian Adriatic coast. This work contributed to a broader understanding of the Middle Adriatic Basin, identifying key tectonic structures including the Middle Adriatic Ridge and the Apennines frontal Thrust. The research analyzed how these tectonic features related to stratigraphic patterns observed in the Quaternary syn-tectonic deposits.
By interpreting available well data, I developed a depositional model that corresponded with lithological patterns visible in the seismic data. This analysis revealed that forced regression deposits were predominant throughout the Quaternary record of the Middle Adriatic Basin.
My dissertation is available in English, and I'm happy to share a copy with anyone interested in these findings.
