Through CaRA and the opportunities that come with it, organization members can develop the following skills:
Communication
Organization
Punctuality
Teamwork
Relationship Building
Problem Solving
Perseverance
Leadership
By partnering with organizations like the Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center and the American Breast Cancer Foundation, members gain essential volunteer experience that will prepare them for the future.
Volunteering affects students in a different way than jobs because there is no personal benefit such as being paid. Instead, teenagers learn to give back to their community and prioritize something that puts others first.
Through the CaRA, members have the opportunity to hold leadership positions and guide others through the process of event coordination and much more.
As a vice president of CaRA, I have led a variety of events such as our Bake Sale Fundraiser, Donut Fundraisers, Facepainting Fundraisers, and Eastergrams fundraiser. My role is to organize when and where the events are, coordinate who volunteers, determine the price of our goods, set up and take down our stand, and be present throughout the events.
Outside of our fundraisers, I have helped create posters, expand our reach, bring in new members, and work with other leadership members to maintain organization and proactivity.
