Today's Scripture is suitable to use with Imaginative Contemplation or Lectio Divina
Stilling: Come into the presence of God and still yourself
Grace: At this time of need: to be open, to be touched, and to be formed by God who IS love and compassion.
Prayer Suggestion: Notice any word, phrase or image that strikes you in the scripture passage or the extract from the poem. Chew over it and let it draw you into prayer. You might like to be creative and use some art materials to express what the word or image means to you.
You may also like to imagine you were the two disciples rushing back in the evening to Jerusalem to share your exciting news.
"Perhaps somewhere, someplace deep inside your being, you have undergone important changes while you were sad." (Rainer Maria Rilke)
So they said to each other, “Weren’t our hearts ablaze within us while He was talking with us on the road and explaining the Scriptures to us?”
That very hour they got up and returned to Jerusalem.
They found the Eleven and those with them gathered together, who said, “The Lord has certainly been raised, and has appeared to Simon!”
Then they began to describe what had happened on the road and how He was made known to them in the breaking of the bread.
Conversation: Have a talk with Jesus about what has struck you during this meditation.
Finish with a final prayer such as the Lord's Prayer/Our Father
This is the moment of resurrection
And I know it is the right time
Just like my Lord, risen
I feel bonded with the world
I feel all brokenness brought into one.
I am on my way back
To bless bread with each of my dear friends,
I am on my way to offer presence
To all I meet on the road
I am on my way to bring resurrection
To all who need God’s healing life.
I have been raised.
