Pints For Polio
Although Rotary clubs develop autonomous service programs, all Rotarians worldwide are united in a campaign for the global eradication of polio. October is Polio Awareness Month in the Rotary calendar.
The Geneseo Rotary Club has created an annual, month-long fundraising event in October/November - Pints for Polio - to support this worldwide Rotary initiative. Area bars and restaurants participate by donating 25% of their proceeds on sales from select beers on a given day.
Every $1 raised during the Pints for Polio events results in $4 contributed to the eradication of polio - the Geneseo Rotary Club matches the amount raised by the bars and restaurants, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation then doubles the total funds raised.
