The idea for a reunion was born during March Break 1980. The first letter went out at the end of March. Then things began to happen so quickly that before everyone knew it General Panet High School was into an event that would affect hundreds of people both in school and out of school. Public service announcements were made over the major radio stations in Canada. Editorial letters were carried in the region newspapers, and public service announcements were placed over television stations. Former students from coast to coast, literally, responded to the call to come back and renew old friends. A showcase of Panet talent, in all fields, was organized. Musical artistic talent in all its forms. Handicraft talent and all of these were featured on the one big day in May. The former students came by the hundreds. They laughed, sang old songs, renewed memories, comparted notes and everyone was smiling. The dinner at F-15 was an unqualified success and the get together back in the girl's gym was unique. The walls of the gym which have seen many dances, assemblies etc. never saw a scene like that. The beautifully decorated ceiling and the mirror ball reflected over 700 people having a great time. The last group left reluctantly at 3:00 a.m.
And the rest is history with reunions happening every 5 years.
No event happens without teamwork. Every reunion has been planned and executed with the help of many volunteers.
