My designs are realistic, abstract, and in-between.
I knew by age 5, I wanted to make art.
Born in New York, grew up in South Dakota and resided in Minnesota since 1974. My Studio/House is in Independence, Minnesota.
Education: BA in Art from California State University, Sacramento. Industrial Engineering Classes at Sacramento City College. Grad Work at UC Sacramento. Always kept a hand in studio art, taking classes, and visiting many Art Museums USA and Europe.
Numerous professional business and management courses.
I started Omega Galleries and Studios in 1972 in Sacramento where I welded steel sculptures. I rented studio space to eleven other artists in various mediums and organized monthly gallery exhibits, received frequent press in the Sacramento Bee Newspaper.
I'm living in my “sweet spot of life. í build forms using abandoned materials. They range in size from 2 inches to over 12 feet.
“My Heart Is Open”, the largest sculpture is permanently installed at Normandale Community College in Bloomington, MN.
“Hero” and “Listen.” honor our Military. Those and "Heart Anvil" have been on display at IDS Center in Minneapolis, and many other locations.
Most recently my studio and my daughter, Kristen, were featured on CBS Channel 4 WCCO, Minneapolis. The segment “Finding Minnesota” with John Lauritsen presented my daughter's and my sculptures. It highlighted my Studio and Sculpture Garden located at my home in Independence. They said, "one man’s scrap finds a new life with purpose at the hands of this sculptor".
