The soap tray is the part of the washing machine in which the user pours detergent in. There is a main wash compartment, a softener compartment, and a prewash compartment.
In the main wash compartment, the user puts in detergent for the main wash, water softener, pre-soaking agent, bleach and stain remover.
In the softener compartment, the user puts in fabric softener (not filling higher than the indicated line).
In the prewash compartment, the user puts in detergent for prewash, or starch.
The whole part is made from PVC, and the process used is blow molding, as can be seen by the grooves of material running down the bottom of the tray.
PVC has good chemical and weather resistance, along with resistance to water and fire. PVC is also harder and denser than most plastics. PVC is also rigid, has good tensile strength and is cheap. PVC's great chemical resistance makes it great for handling detergent powder and liquids.
