In her 17 years as a specialist teacher, Ashle has worked with neurodivergent students from early childhood through to high school. Her experiences have shown her the importance of a strength-based approach and the fundamental need for positivity, encouragement, and a willingness to think outside the box. In her current role as Small Poppies teacher, she works closely with gifted preschoolers and their whanau to help children explore their passions, learn to develop resilience and advocate for their needs in early childhood centres and in their early years at primary school. As a GEMS facilitator, Ashle brings a commitment to respectfully engage with teachers to find solutions and strategies to support their gifted students in authentic and realistic ways. By respecting each ECE’s philosophy and culture, she is able to develop strong relationships and cater her approach to maximize success.
