Steve and Ruth formally set up the club in December 2019. Then of course there was the pandemic … We started playing again competitively in 2022. We had a good year, taking part in 10 tournaments from Cornwall to Wales; the Midlands to Kent. We enjoyed meeting up with players and course owners who we have known for years, and getting to know new participants.
In 2023 we organised the Gemini Open; the first Women's Crazy Competition; and the first UK Women's Doubles. Ruth was also elected onto the World Minigolf Federation's Women in Sport Committee. A fuller recap of our years can be found on our Gemini News page.
Steve and Ruth have been enjoying competitive Minigolf for a combined total of 35 years. We at first envisaged our club would continue as just us two, hence the name, Gemini. This also reflects our birthdays both being in June. However, we have increased our online presence and have supported new players to the sport. We are keen to support players getting started, whether or not they choose to join the Geminigolf Club. Whilst players from other clubs are very welcome, we don’t aim to poach other club’s players, we want the sport to grow.
We are affiliated to the British Minigolf Association (BMGA) which is the national body for Minigolf in the UK. The BMGA itself is affiliated to the World Minigolf Federation. Both these organisations are included on our Website Links page.

Steve and Ruth both feel strongly about having respect for others’ identity and being non-discriminatory. We want everything about our club to reflect this. We are continuously learning and acknowledge that we may not recognise when some things we are doing might be seen as showing prejudice. We welcome any feedback and are always striving to improve.
Our core value is fair play. This value has many aspects and is set out by the International Fair Play Committee. "It is not enough to win, triumph must be measured by fair means." Respect your opponent, without them there is no game.
We value being supportive of all whatever their standard of play or reasons for participating. Not everyone plays to win; the score may not be important to them. Have fun and be inclusive. We like players who are accepting of everyone whatever their skill level or other attributes. Play to learn about yourself, not to criticise other people. Don’t be too harsh on yourself either.
We also value transparency about our club and have begun by having our rules (below) and finances (here) publicly available.
