Gemini Women’s/Mixed Doubles
Player’s Pack
Seve Kukielka and Aces Minigolf Gloucester are joining with Geminigolfclub to hold a Women’s/Mixed Doubles Tournament at Aces Minigolf, Dobbies Garden Centre, Bath Road, Gloucester, GL10 3DP. This will take place on Saturday 17th February 2024. Tee off 2.00 pm.
Teams will be of two players, at least one player must be female. Females may wish to invite a male or non-binary person to play in their team, or there can be two females in a team. Golf or course ball only. Once you have chosen your ball it cannot be changed.
The entry fee will be £10 per player. This will include free practice on the day, with the course opening at 9.00 am. Closing date for entries has now been extended to 1.00 pm on the Saturday.
The tournament will consist of two rounds. Please note that the course will not be closed to the public at any time. Please do not impede the public, and accommodate the public during the competition. If anyone is waiting behind you at a hole during practice, including another competitor, please only take one tee shot. No smoking or vaping on the course. No practicing between rounds.
Prizes are trophies for each player in the winning team with medals for runners up and third placed team. There will also be cash prizes. The amount will be dependent on the number of entrants. Currently the prize fund stands at £30 for the winners (£15 each); £20 for runners up; £10 for third place; £5 for fourth. A £10 donation will also be made to Emily's Gift the charity supported by Aces. There is a special prize for the most aces by one player not in the top 4 on Hole 18. In the event of a tie this will be decided by sudden death play off at hole 18 only. If no-one outside the top 4 aces the 18th then the top 4 will be included.
The format will be a rolling start with groups of two teams playing together. If there is an odd number of teams they will be scored by an independent non- competitor.
The first round will be ‘best ball’. Each player plays out the hole, and the best score is counted. Obviously if the first player aces the hole, the second need not play it, but they can take one tee shot if they wish. Otherwise, if the second player cannot better the score of the first player, please pick up, to save time. Each team’s best score is counted. It is NOT match play (so do not offer ‘gimmes’).
For the second round, groups will go out in reverse leader board order. In this round, both players in the team must play out the hole. The total score of both players for each hole will be added to their first round score to determine the result of the competition.
If the referees decide the course is unplayable due to rain, play will be suspended. If not able to resume then the winners will be as current standings based on the holes everyone has completed. There will be no refunds.
If the course is wet but not unplayable, the lines to be played can be cleared by the competitors or helpers. If your ball goes into lying water that is not on the ace line (eg the bunker on hole 17) you can take your ball out of the water and place it on the "shore", no penalty. This is to save time trying to clear large amounts of water. Brooms and snow shovels will be put round the course on holes like 2 and 7 where the water can accumulate on the line. An exception is on the 13th if the bunker is water logged you need to hit the ball hard enough to jump over it. If you do drop into the water you can take the ball out and put it on the edge (hole side) as with any other bunker, no penalty.
T off - between yellow markers. Not in front, on, or behind.
Hole specific rules – there will be cards at the tee on holes where there are specific rules. These are:
4: if stuck at top, go back to the T; if the ball sticks in the gully, reposition at exit of pipe on the green.You must play up the hill.
9: if ball comes to rest on the brick, back to the tee. If ball bounces off the brick back onto the green, play from where it lies. You must play through the tunnels.
10: if in river use the repositioning lines as marked;
13: please do not attempt to clear the bunker of water
14: back to T if stuck on top of hill. If it rolls back play from where it lies;
17: reposition from the marker in the bunker; if stuck at the top take your shot again.
Pipe rules: If the ball gets stuck in a pipe, reposition 8cm from the exit of the pipe. Tunnel rules: (eg Hole 9) if your ball does not exit a tunnel bring it out from the direction it went in.
