History & Vision

Origin

It was 1939 and Massimo Antonelli and his wife Stella had an idea to open a gelateria in the sleepy town of Sapienza.  After 6 months, they opened the doors to Gelateria Bella in the old Palazzo Santorini and lived upstairs, in what is now the law office of Salvatore Bravuomo. Initially, they sold gelato and coffee, but as the years and decades passed, their son, Aldo, decided to offer cakes, cannolis, and other sweet treats.  In 2016 Aldo's children decided to sell the business to Chef Michele Inversini. The rest, as they say, is history.

Vision

Gelateria Bella has become so popular that people from all over Italy and the world now come to Sapienza not only for the tourist attractions and sun-soaked beach, but also to visit our gelateria because of our tasty gelato and sweet treats, which are made by hand daily. Due to the overwhelming amount of business we get, we have decided to open a second Gelateria Bella which will overlook beautiful Sapienza beach and offer a great view of the Sapienza Cathedral. We cannot wait to open our doors, which will happen very soon, as we are putting the finishing touches on the new location. See you soon down at our new beach location.
