Our Vision & Mission:
We aim to provide free access to Google’s technology platforms—including Google Classroom, YouTube Education, Chrome Education Apps, and Google Play Education Apps—encouraging the adoption of modern, technology-based teaching methods in classrooms and beyond.
Our Story:
Founded on June 10, 2015 at Satara Polytechnic, GEG Satara was formally inaugurated by Hon. Jimmy Puri, National Director, Google Educator Group (GEG) India. Since then, we have grown as a hub for collaboration and professional development, fueling educator success with resources, workshops, and networking opportunities.
What are GEGs?
Google Educator Groups are global communities run by educators, for educators—independent of Google—all united by the belief that the best learning comes from sharing with peers. At GEG Satara, we foster an open environment for professional growth, creative idea exchange, and real classroom impact.
Dr. Dipak Tatpuje, Founder and Leader of GEG Satara, was awarded the Google for Education Champion Gold Medal at the Google for Education Champions Symposium held in Singapore.
This recognition also included the prestigious Google Certified Innovator and Google Certified Trainer badges, along with advanced reskilling and upskilling on Google tools — with a special focus on AI in education.
Sept. 2025 GEG Satara have launched an initiative to strengthen capacity-building programs for high school and college-level teachers in rural areas, focusing on subject integration with Computational Thinking (CT) through Google tools. Conducted by Google and Commonwealth of Learning (COL) Certified Computational Thinkers: Prof. Dr. Dipak Tatpuje and Mr. Satish Shende ,Supported by GEG-Satara and the Consortium of Computational Thinkers, Participation of around 15 rural teachers, who actively interacted with trainers, Development of CT-integrated subject modules for classroom delivery
2025, Dr. Dipak Tatpuje, Founder and Leader of GEG–Satara, participated in a day of insightful conversations at the @GoogleIndia Office in Mumbai. It was an honor to be part of an exclusive, invited panel comprising distinguished thought leaders and educational influencers. Heartfelt thanks to Google India and Mahattattva for this enriching opportunity.
It was a pleasure to speak at the Google Head Office, Gurugram in Google for Education Champions Energizer 2024 on "Career Mapping Using Google Tools: A practice-based scientific activity that was held for Maharashtra's rural youths in the regional Marathi language for “Career Planning” over the period of three decades. Thank you, Ms. Sonia, Ms. Rohini, Ms. Hema and team Google India & LLF.
Through the "Computational Thinking for Educators" initiative, Google certified teachers in 2015 for GEG study groups. GEG-Satara's Prof. Dipak Tatpuje and Ms. Poonam Kumari mentored and educated 21 Maharashtra educators in preparation for certification. These Computational Thinkers applied it in rural teaching situations outside of the classroom as well. The “GLocal-LoGlobalGlocal” cycle (Global to Local, then Local to Global) will be completed by the operations of consortium. This Innovative Activity of Prof. Dr. Dipak Tatpuje will mark a turning point in the study of Computational Thinking applied to Action Research with virtual mode and by the use of Google Tools.
In 2022, an engaging workshop titled "Exploring Educational Google Tools for Educators" was conducted at Satara by Satish Shende, GEG Leader, Satara. The session offered a practical introduction to Google for Education’s suite of digital tools, focusing on empowering teachers to maximize classroom productivity and collaboration. A special highlight of the workshop was the “Introduction to Google for Education Certified Educator Level 1 and 2” segment, which guided participants through foundational competencies and advanced skills, enabling them to achieve official Google certification and enhance their technology-driven teaching methods.
On September 17, 2016, the Edu-X Event, supported by Google India, brought together 40 enthusiastic teachers from Satara District under the leadership of GEG Satara. This special program included an introduction to the prestigious “Google for Education Certified Educator Level 1 and 2” segment, providing participants with essential digital skills and guidance to adopt innovative Google tools in their teaching practice. The event empowered local educators to unlock new possibilities for technology-powered learning and collaborative growth.
Google Edu On Air is an innovative online professional development program, and GEG Satara proudly leads its regional implementation. Through interactive webinars, live training sessions, and practical workshops, GEG Satara helps educators harness Google’s digital tools for modern teaching. By fostering collaboration, sharing best practices, and featuring local educator success stories, the Edu On Air program led by GEG Satara empowers teachers in Maharashtra and beyond to create engaging, student-centered learning experiences in today’s digital classroom.
In 2015, GEG Satara organized a pioneering Computational Thinking Workshop that brought together 30 passionate teachers from across Satara district. This hands-on workshop empowered educators with practical strategies to integrate computational thinking into their classrooms. More than 15 participants earned the prestigious “Computational Thinking for Educators” certificate from Google, marking a significant step forward in technology-driven education within the region.
